By Paul Martin Mar 5, 2026 | 5:39 AM

Students and staff are returning to a high school in Quinte on Thursday after it was closed on Wednesday.

The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board says Bayside Secondary school is open for classes again.

It was closed on Wednesday after a power problem affected the heating system.

The official notice from the board is included below.

NOTICE – Bayside Secondary School will be open on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

The temporary generator is working and the school’s boilers are at operating temperature.

Students and staff should report to school as usual on Thursday.

Thank you to students, families and caregivers for their patience and understanding through this unexpected situation.
