UPDATE – House fire on Victoria Avenue in Belleville

UPDATE – The Ontario Fire Marshall’s office is now leading the investigation into a house fire over the Family Day weekend in Belleville.

There is still no word on the cause of the fire.

More details, including a damage estimate, are expected on Tuesday.

ORIGINAL STORY – There was a house fire on the east side of Belleville on Sunday afternoon.

Belleville Firefighters responded to the scene of a house fire in the 500 block of Victoria Avenue around 1:20 pm.

All occupants managed to evacuate on their own and there are no reports of injuries.

As of the last report from the scene (1:45 pm), it was still not under control.

Police have blocked Victoria Avenue between Parrot and Haig Road.

An investigator has been called. There is currently no estimate of the damage.

The search for the cause will begin once the fire is fully out.
