Brighton announces alternative ways to receive notices during postal interruptions

By Hailey MacDonald Oct 3, 2025 | 2:00 PM

The Municipality of Brighton has released more information about how people should arrange for payments as the strike at Canada Post continues.

The details are included in the release below.

RELEASE – Due to the ongoing Canada Post service interruptions, the Municipality is currently unable to mail water and wastewater notices. To ensure timely receipt, we are encouraging residents to contact the Municipal Office to receive the amount of the October bill.

Please be aware that we are experiencing a high volume of requests, and residents may experience delays. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Payment Options

The Municipality of Brighton offers the following alternative payment method options for water utility bills and property taxes:

Cash, cheque, or debit at the Municipal Administration Office (35 Alice Street) in person or in the drop box. Please do not include cash in the drop box. At your Financial Institution, internet or telephone banking, or automatic withdrawal. On the Municipal website using a VISA payment. Sign Up for E-Billing

We kindly remind and encourage residents to register for e-billing services where possible to receive future notices. E-billing is a quick, convenient, and environmentally friendly way to receive your statements directly in your inbox. Please note that our system does not support sending previous bills electronically. If you recently registered for e-billing, the October Water and Wastewater bill will not be included.

To register for e-billing services, please visit, https://forms.brighton.ca/Finance-Forms/eBilling.

Planning, Building & Licensing Documents

Additionally, requests, or other time-sensitive documents related to planning, building, and licensing matters, can be dropped off at the Planning Department located at 67 Sharp Road, Brighton, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Should residents have inquiries, need assistance, or have time sensitive concerns, please contact the Municipal Office (613) 475-0670.
