Beyond the Headlines – Hospice Quinte open house next week

By Hailey MacDonald Oct 24, 2025 | 6:04 AM

A group that provides end-of-life care for people in the Quinte Region is opening its doors to the public next week.

Hospice Quinte will be holding an Open House at the Stan Klemencic Care Centre on October 30th, 2025 from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

You can learn about programs and services, meet some of our staff and volunteers, and get a first-hand look at the state-of-the-art facility.

After working there myself a few years ago, and also learning about the experience of families who have received comfort and care, I am still surprised at how many people don’t know what Hospice Quinte is all about.

In addition to this year being Hospice Quinte’s 40th anniversary, it is also the 4th anniversary of the grand opening of the Stan Klemencic Care Centre.

I well remember the planning stages and the site selection in Bayside, as well as the extent of thought that went into the building itself. It is designed specifically to accommodate cultural differences and respect privacy, while creating a warm and inviting space to families to be with their loved ones in their final days.

The strain on caregivers who are often themselves sleep-deprived and in poor health is often immeasurable.  Hospice Quinte is an oasis of care and peace of mind with medical professionals and deeply empathetic people who provide support, respite and sometimes a shoulder to cry on.

While some would think of it as a place of sadness, in reality it shines as a beacon of hope and healing, transition and respite. Even a quick tour will help you realize how lucky we are that it’s in our very own backyard, waiting for when we need it most.

I’m Paul Martin and that’s what I see looking Beyond the Headlines.
