A car fire caused a major slowdown on the 401 in Quinte West on Monday night.

Quinte West Firefighters responded to a fully involved vehicle on the westbound 401 just past Wooler Road around 9:35 pm.

It was tense for a few moments, but a short time later they managed to locate the driver. There were no injuries.

One westbound lane was closed for just over an hour while they dealt with the fire.

They cleared the scene Monday night by 10 pm.
