Beyond the Headlines – CFWD ID Clinic today in Trenton

By Hailey MacDonald Oct 9, 2025 | 1:24 PM

We often ask ourselves how we can help the homeless, and one great way is happening in Quinte West today.

The Centre for Workforce Development (CFWD) is holding a FREE Identification & Employment Clinic in Trenton today at the Trent Port Marina (from 10 am to 3 pm).

The event is designed to support vulnerable, marginalized, and unhoused individuals get help obtaining or replacing key identification, accessing employment services and connecting directly with social assistance agencies.

A previous event on June 24th was a remarkable success. It provided 226 services to more than 80 community members in just five hours.

I love this event for so many reasons, but most of all because it tackles one of the major reasons people struggle while “off the grid”.

If you don’t have ID, and you don’t know what’s available, how are you ever going to get help, or a job, or a purpose beyond daily survival.

People who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless are often unemployed and feel neglected or somehow outside the system.

Hope is a rare commodity, and it often takes help from one or multiple sources to get them back on the right path.

So thanks to everyone at the Centre for Workforce Development for running today’s ID and Employment Clinic at the Trent Port Marina. For dozens of people who feel lost in our community, it could be the first step in reclaiming employment, a purpose and perhaps even peace of mind.

I’m Paul Martin and that’s what I see looking Beyond the Headlines.
