Toronto man charged with impaired in PEC

A driver has been charged after a traffic stop in Prince Edward County.

Early Saturday morning around 2 a.m., OPP officers halted a vehicle in Consecon and when speaking to the driver, suspected that they were under the influence of alcohol.

After further investigation, 35-year-old Remo Sookoo of Toronto, has been charged with failure or refusal comply with a demand, driving a motor vehicle without insurance and driving with an open container of alcohol.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Picton Court on October 8.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.
