By Hailey MacDonald Sep 17, 2025 | 7:08 AM

Fire crews in Quinte West managed to get a fire behind a plaza on Old Highway 2 under control earlier Wednesday morning.

Quinte West Fire Chief John Whelan stated a stake semi-trailer truck had went ablaze in a fenced-in area behind a building housing the Farmer’s Daughter Sub Shoppe among other businesses around 5 a.m.

The fire also caused severe damage to a camper trailer.

Crews managed to put it out in about half an hour.

Chief Whelan stated the fire was not deemed suspicious and fire investigators and the OPP are looking into an electrical issue.

No injuries have been reported.
