Pound Services Contract increase on the table for Belleville Council

By Hailey MacDonald Sep 22, 2025 | 7:46 AM

Belleville Council is being asked to increase a pound services contract with the Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward.

The recommendation is to provide an increase of $255,800 in 2026 pre-budget approvalĀ to raise the sole and single source agreement to $460,000 for next year.

That increase is expected to be funded through taxation.

Currently, the city says it has been funding the Humane Society approximately $100,000 annually, with an approximate additional $100,000 provided in 2025 and this request to increase the contract is meant to keep up with inflation.

The current Pound Services Contract is set to expire at the end of the year.

Council will deal with this request at its meeting at 4 p.m. Monday.
