Beyond the Headlines – Porchfest in Belleville

By Hailey MacDonald Sep 26, 2025 | 1:47 PM

This weekend, the hills are alive with the sound of music. East Hill in Belleville specifically.

The Rotary Club of Belleville is presenting Porchfest tomorrow (Saturday).

Opening Ceremonies are at Glanmore at 12:45 pm with music played at several spots in Old East Hill from 1 to 4 before the music shifts downtown for the later afternoon and evening. There are also performances by Andy Forgie at 10 am and Double Major at 11 am at the East Hill Playground.

I love this event for so many reasons.

First, it truly celebrates music in a friendly and accessible way by bringing it to several blocks of the city while still respecting people by keeping it to acoustic or “unplugged performances”. (I even sang briefly at one – true story).

Dozens of local performers get a chance to entertain and attract new fans while taking a beautiful early fall afternoon and building some truly special memories for people walking from venue to venue.

It’s an amazing way to showcase one of the most beautiful parts of the Friendly City, with some amazing sites like Glanmore and vintage homes, inviting and soothing green space and time spent with neighbours and friends alike.

The best reason though is the music. There is nothing like live music performed by people just for the joy of it as they show off their own talents and love for both the medium and the community.

Porchfest is a fun weekend activity for anyone who loves music, and wants to spend an hour or two taking in the vistas in Old East Hill as (in my opinion) it hits all the right notes.
