Belleville residents saving money on cost of repairing leaks with new program

A new program is being made available to Belleville residents who face high water bills caused by unexpected plumbing leaks.

The city’s new Water Leak Forgiveness Adjustment Program is available to all metered water customers whose account is in good standing that can demonstrate that a leak has occurred and has been repaired.

City officials state approved applicants will receive a credit on a portion of their next bill, to offset the cost that would have been caused by the leak.

Residents interested in applying can now do so online through the city’s website or in-person at City Hall on 169 Front St.

For details on eligibility, application requirements and to submit a form, visit the Water Leak Forgiveness Adjustment Application webpage or contact 613-966-3657 or waterbilling@belleville.ca.

The city says this program will not be made available to commercial, industrial, institutional or income-generating rental properties.
