More than two dozen people were charged in a distracted driving campaign on the stretch of the 401 that runs through the Quinte Region.

On Wednesday, Officers with Lennox and Addington, Frontenac, Quinte West and Central Hastings OPP and the OPP Auxiliary Unit conducted a one-day distracted driving initiative along Highway 401 between Quinte West and Kingston.

A total of 30 people were charged for using their cell phones while driving.

First offence drivers receive a $615 fine, three demerit points and a three-day licence suspension.

OPP officials are asking everyone to keep their focus firmly on the road.

Be alert, and keep your hands on the wheel.
