Quinte West, Northumberland County burn bans to be lifted

By Hailey MacDonald Aug 27, 2025 | 9:19 AM

Burn bans in Quinte West and Northumberland County are being lifted on Wednesday.

The Municipality of Quinte West stated it will be lifting its full burn ban at noon after it had been in place since August 11.

A partial burn ban was instituted before that on August 6.

“We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation during the burn ban,” stated Deputy Fire Chief Rick Caddick in a media release.

“Although the burn ban has been lifted, we remind everyone to burn responsibly and never leave a fire unattended.”

Meanwhile, the County stated based on significant rainfall, cooler temperatures and more rain in the forecast, it’s appropriate to lift its ban, which has been in effect since August 6.

Burn permits are required for all open-air fires. To find out about the status of burn bans in Quinte West or to obtain a burn permit, visit this link.

Residents in both areas are encouraged to remain vigilant, report any signs of fire immediately, and do their part to help prevent the spread of fire.
