Northumberland OPP has charged an individual with impaired operation of a vehicle.

Around 7:20 a.m. on Friday, OPP received a complaint regarding a vehicle unable to maintain it’s lane while travelling eastbound on Highway 401 at Newtownville.

After being informed that the driver had taken the exit for Cobourg, a pick-up truck matching the description provided was located by OPP on Burnham Street.

Upon speaking with the motorist, police entered into an impaired operation investigation.

Paul Bamford, 54, from Brampton, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Dangerous operation

In addition to a future court date in September, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impound was initiated.
