Less than 24 hours after they knocked off the first-place Deseronto Bulldogs, the Madawaska Valley Wolves were brought back down to earth by the Tweed Oil Kings in an entertaining Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League tilt Sunday afternoon in Tweed.
OIL KINGS 5, WOLVES 3
A big three-goal second period was the difference in Tweed where the hometown Oil Kings beat Madawaska Valley 5-3.
Brody Morris, Zack Elson, Dylan Ingram, Andrew Rhynold and Keon Troccoli-Roik scored for Tweed; Kenny Murduff and the Brahaney brothers — Jakob and Elijah — each had two assists. Evan Morrison posted the win in net for the Oil Kings with 24 saves.
Jared Steege paced MV with two tallies; Sean Green made 38 stops in the Wolves cage.
Second in the Highlands Division behind Deseronto (15-3-1), the Kings improve to 11-6-2. Both clubs have one regular-season game remaining.

WOLVES 6, BULLDOGS 5
On the road, Deseronto lost in an O.T. shootout to a pesky Wolves squad that outshot the Bulldogs 57-33.
Luc Brown had a goal and two helpers for Dez while Noah Brant, Joey Mayer, Cameron Krupa and Graham Lamers also scored. Jonny Hill racked up three assists.
