UPDATE – Westbound 401 snarled in Quinte West

By Kay Joly Nov 15, 2024 | 5:57 PM

Traffic was brought to a complete standstill on the westbound 401 in Quinte West briefly on Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to a collision involving two tractor-trailers on the westbound 401 just past Aikins Road shortly before 5 pm.

Traffic was blocked at one point, but they managed to reopen one westbound lane by 5:30 pm.

The OPP also closed the westbound lanes again later in the evening for cleanup (around 10:30 pm).

One of the two drivers was extricated by the Quinte West Fire Department and was then taken to a hospital in Kingston for the treatment of serious injuries.

There is no word yet on possible charges in the crash
