Speed enforcement cameras set to begin usage next Tuesday

By Brock Ormond Jul 11, 2024 | 10:38 AM

Belleville’s newest form of technology to try and halt speeding drivers will be activated next Tuesday.

City officials stated Automated Speed Enforcement cameras are set to begin use in community safety zones across the city.

ASE is a technology-driven approach to enforcing speed limits which utilizes cameras to detect vehicles travelling above the posted speed limits and issues tickets to violators accordingly.

The hope with this technology, the city stated, is to create safer roadways, reduce accidents and promote responsible driving habits to keep other motorists and pedestrians safe.
