Dryden Riley’s first shutout of the 2026-27 season came Friday night at the Duke Dome in the Wellington Dukes 5-0 blanking of the St. Michael’s Buzzers.
A fast start out of the gates was necessary for Wellington to jump back into the win column and the Dukes got goals in spades from Landon Marleau (19th), Sammy Longo (5th) and Cooper Woron (3rd), all in prime scoring areas.
Special teams took over in the second for the hosts, with Blake Berthiaume tearing away to snap a shorthanded goal upstairs on Erik Maki under the crossbar at 12:19 and Zach Anderson roofing a tough-angle shot in the final minute to chase the St. Mike’s start from the game.
The Dukes put a shell up in the third period to help preserve Riley’s goose egg and push Wellington’s record to 12-6-3 on the campaign.
Justin Doak and Jayden Levesque had two assists each, while Cole Ellis picked up a helper on the first Wellington goal in his first game back from a stint in the BCHL.
Anderson, Brandon Mann, Oliver Coyle, Mac Chisholm and Marco Wolf added single assists as well.
Though he had no points in his Dukes debut, former Toronto Warrior Lucas Hill played a solid two-way game.
The Dukes visit the North York Rangers for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Herb Carnegie Arena.
