A man with ties to the local hockey scene has been arrested in an RCMP child luring investigation.
Tyler King, a former assistant general manager of the Okotoks Oilers, was charged by the RCMP in Alberta with sex offences involving three minor-aged players.
Those charges include luring, sexual exploitation, and making child pornography.
Officials with the investigation say that the alleged victims were minor-aged hockey players from Alberta and Saskatchewan and the incidents in question all happened between 2021 and 2024 at time that King (age 39) was a former assistant general manager of the Okotoks Oilers in charge of non-hockey operations.
The Mounties also say the Oilers informed them about the allegations in mid-2024, which is around the same time King left the Alberta-based team.
Multiple reports by outlets including TSN and CTV note that King’s biography also identified him as a video producer and public address announcer for the Belleville Senators.
King was arrested by the RCMP at the border crossing near Kingston on Friday. The other details of the case were released during an RCMP press conference yesterday afternoon. Police believe there may be more victims and are encouraging them to contact the RCMP.
