It was a chaotic scene as Belleville Firefighters battled a blaze at a multi-residential building early Thursday morning.
Smoke was seen pouring out of the roof of the converted building on Gordon Street just north of Moira Street West around 4:30 am.
Firefighters arrived quickly and contained the fire to the unit of origin.
Multiple people evacuated the building. Two people suffered burns and were taken to BGH by Hastings Quinte Paramedics. There were no other injuries.
The investigation is continuing.
Gordon Street was blocked off by police between Harriett and Moira Street West to restrict access and support the firefighting operation.
