Belleville is going to approach the province for money to reimburse the city for its doctor recruitment efforts.
Council voted unanimously on Monday (9-0 in favour) of a motion from Councillor Paul Carr to have Mayor Neil Ellis write the Minister of Health and request that the Ontario Government reimburse the City of Belleville for municipal funds spent for Primary Care Recruitment as the City’s recruitment efforts have outpaced recruitment efforts of the Hastings-Prince Edward Ontario Health Team.
A copy of a recent staff report on the matter will be included in the correspondence.
Copies of the letter and support documentation will also be sent to Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp and Hastings – Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee.
A copy of the Mayor’s letter and any responses received will also be placed on a future Council agenda under Correspondence.
