PIRATES 2 CHIEFS 1 (OT)
The Picton Pirates return home was a dramatic one led by a returning forward.
Isaih More scored both goals, including the overtime winner, in the Pirates home opener victory, 2-1 over the Lakefield Chiefs.
Ty Mulder registered a pair of assists, Joey Coates added one and Cohen Bedore made 40 saves in an outstanding performance.
The win was Picton’s first of the season in three tries.
HUSKIES 10 PANTHERS 2
The Frankford Huskies started their three-game-in-four-day run with a statement win in Port Hope.
Thomas Kuipers, Evan Erwin, and Deke Osterhout combined for 11 points in the victory and Chris Brydges, Ty Leavitt, Riley Grimmon and Avery Wease all factoring in with two points each.
Jake Sage, Jared Ellis and Gage Butcher potted goals and Liam Boyer made 21 saves in the first of three wins on the weekend.
FRIDAY
RAIDERS 3 THUNDER 2
Mason Goodfellow’s division-leading 11th of the season in the third period was the game-winner in a narrow Napanee Raiders win over Trent Hills on home ice.
Ryan Aldridge and Carter Slaven scored in the first to give the Raiders an early 2-0 lead before Connor Boates got one back for the Thunder in the second stanza with his first of the season.
Jack Andrews added his first of the year as well late for Trent Hills.
Brody Nielissen, Luke Jarmin, Eric Taher and Cole McEwen had assists for Napanee.
Jacob Brown made 24 saves for Napanee, while Logan Vale stopped 37 in the Thunder crease.
SATURDAY
HUSKIES 6 PIRATES 3
The Huskies rode a four-goal opening frame to a victory, despite a pushback from the Pirates at Frankford Arena.
Thomas Kuipers, Osterhout, Sage, Liam Storms, Ty McCambridge, and Wease all found the net for Frankford.
Jack Kuipers notched two assists, with one helper each from brother Thomas, Erwin, Noah Lesser, Brydges, Gavin Vespa and Maddox Vespa.
Liam Boyer made 27 saves in the win.
Coates had a goal and two assists for Picton, while Gerrit Kempers notched a goal and a helper and Ben Smith chipped in with one marker.
Nick Parodo and Cohen Bedore each saw time in net.
SUNDAY
HUSKIES 6 THUNDER 0
Frankford continued to roll in a convincing win at Sunny Life Recreation Centre Sunday afternoon.
Charlie Vos’ 19 save shutout was his first in the PJHL and Thomas Kuipers and brother Jack continued their solid seasons with three combined goals.
Brydges added three points, Gavin Vespa notched three assists and brother Maddox added a goal and an assist.
Parker Robbins had 30 saves for the Thunder.
BRIGHTON VIKINGS
Applefest Weekend was the perfect time for the Brighton Vikings to make their triumphant entrance.
The Vikings swept their inaugural two-game weekend set with the previously undefeated Orangeville Blitz 6-3 on Friday and 5-4 on Saturday night.
Yenri Jibb’s five goals and seven points led each respective categories for the Vikings, Timofei Ergardt, Lazarus Constant and Matvei Belyanin also registered multi-point weekends.
Yaroslav Gurenkov and Kahne Bettison split the net with wins.
