The Quinte West Detachment of the OPP has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation in the late hours of Monday night.
Just before midnight Monday, a traffic complaint on Highway 401 Eastbound, led Quinte West OPP to suspect a motorist may have been impaired.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Quinte West Detachment where charges were laid under the Criminal Code, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Highway Traffic Act. The passenger in the vehicle was also arrested during the investigation.
Tyler Lamantia, 30, from London, was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Flight from peace officer
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
- Dangerous operation
- Operation while prohibited x4
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Fail to comply with probation order x 5
- Driving while under suspension x2
Kendra Perriam, 36, from London, was charged with the following offences:
- Flight from peace officer
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Fail to comply with release order x 4
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
The accused are being held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.
