It is an exciting year for the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club.
The Bay of Quinte Yacht Club (BQYC) is honoured to be hosting the Eastern Yachting Circuit (EYC) Regatta from Thursday, July 9th to Saturday, July 11th.
The EYC is an annual event that takes place across Canada and the US along Lake Ontario. 12 clubs rotate between hosting the regatta, with six clubs located on either side of the lake.
The EYC Regatta spans three days, the long distance race being on Thursday followed by a course race and a large roast dinner on Friday. Saturday’s course race concludes the regatta.
Thursday’s long distance race is 22 miles from Belleville to the east side of Big Bay and back around, while sailors will be racing along Big Bay during Friday and Saturday.
There has been a successful turnout to kick off the event, with approximately 50 boats racing on Thursday.
The BQYC says it is a wonderful honour to be hosting the regatta once again.
The EYC Regatta is being held just two months ahead of the BQYC’s 150th anniversary on September 12th, playing an integral part in what is shaping up to be a tremendous year for the club.
