As daylight savings time ends this weekend, Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services reminds residents to change their clocks and batteries after trick or treating this Saturday night.
Clocks turn back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1. In addition to adjusting your clocks, residents should replace the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. This annual reminder helps ensure that working alarms are in place to keep everyone safe.
By law, smoke alarms must be installed on every level of the home and outside all sleeping areas. For added protection, place alarms inside bedrooms as well. Homes with fuel-burning appliances, fireplaces, or attached garages must also have carbon monoxide alarms located outside all sleeping areas.
For questions about testing your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms or having them inspected, contact Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services at 613-392-6557.
