A local event helping people avoid becoming the next victim of fraud will happen next week in Picton.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Prince Edward County would like to remind residents that Wednesday, March 25, 2026, is the final scheduled “Officer in the Branch” event being held in partnership with local banks.

The last session will take place at Scotiabank in Picton, running from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Residents are encouraged to stop by, say hello, and chat one-on-one with an OPP officer about fraud prevention, receive advice on current fraud trends, or ask questions related to common scams.

Throughout the initiative, officers have been available to provide practical advice on avoiding fraud schemes, including gift card frauds, grandparent scams, and phishing attempts, helping residents protect themselves and their finances in a familiar setting.

Members of the public are welcome to attend during regular banking hours – no appointment is required.

If you believe you’ve been targeted or have fallen victim to a scam, report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or online at www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca. You can also contact the Prince Edward County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
