Registration is now open for the 2026 County Kids of Steel Triathlon, returning Sunday, June 7, 2026 at the Prince Edward Fitness and Aquatic Centre (PEFAC) in Picton.
The community-driven youth event welcomes kids and teens ages 3–17 for a swim, bike, and run experience that promotes fitness, perseverance, and fun through sport while strengthening community connections.
After a successful return in 2025, organizers are looking to build on the momentum. Last year’s event welcomed 208 young athletes from the Bay of Quinte and beyond, was powered by 120+ volunteers, and earned five-star ratings from parents in the post-event survey, with all respondents saying they would recommend the event to other families.
Participants complete safe, well-designed, age-appropriate course distances. Every participant receives a finisher medal, and the top three male and female finishers in each age group receive 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-place medals.
The four-woman organizing committee says, “It takes a whole army of volunteers, incredible community support, and months of behind-the-scenes planning to bring this event to life but watching these young athletes swim, bike, and run their hearts out makes it all worth it and we’re thrilled to do it all again in 2026.”
New for 2026, a teen relay option (ages 14–17) invites teens to team up with friends and complete the swim, bike, and run legs as a three-person team.
County Kids of Steel is sanctioned and insured by Triathlon Ontario, supporting a safe, well-run event experience.
The organizing committee is now recruiting both participants and volunteers.
Families are encouraged to register early, and community members are invited to volunteer as there are a variety of roles available to fit different interests and availability.
Organizers are proud to continue their partnership with The Children’s Foundation to help keep the event accessible.
Families who qualify can apply for a registration fee subsidy through The Children’s Foundation’s Playing for Keeps program.
