UPDATE at 6:30 – the Special Weather Statement has ended as most of the snow has fallen, though flurries are continuing this morning and roads are still very slick in some areas with secondary roads untouched in some cases.
ORIGINAL STORY at 5 AM – Environment Canada has extended and expanded a warning about heavy snow in the Quinte Region.
A Special Weather Statement was issued for the Belleville, Quinte West and Brighton on Tuesday around noon.
It was extended on Wednesday morning and has been expanded to cover the entire Quinte Region from Brighton to Kingston and Picton to Bancroft.
What: Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm. Reduced visibility in areas of heavier snow.
Roads and walkways may be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
Drivers are encouraged to prepare for deteriorating travel conditions and allow extra time for travel.
Additional information: Some areas could get localized bursts of heavy snowfall. In general snow will taper off to flurries from west to east through the morning.
