It’s time for the annual free event that lets you clear some space in your homes and helps out your neighbours and fellow community members.
Giveaway Days are this weekend in Belleville and Quinte West.
Residents in both municipalities are encouraged to put gently used items to the curb, clearly marked “FREE”, by 8 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday for others to pick up.
Any unclaimed items can be brought back inside by 8 p.m.
Whether participating households are decluttering or finding new-to-you treasures, giveaway day is a great opportunity to help out neighbours and reduce landfill waste at the same time.
Appropriate items to give away include:
CDs and DVDs
Books
Furniture and home decor
Small appliances and kitchen items
Construction materials, such as hardware, lumber and drywall
Health Canada’s Consumer Product Safety Directorate advises against giving away cribs, car seats, strollers, bath seats and playpens.
Visit both Belleville and Quinte West websites for further information.
