2ND UPDATE – Thursday at 9:30 am. Quinte West OPP have released additional details about a fatal crash on Wednesday night near CFB Trenton. The release is included below.
RELEASE – Members of the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with EMS and Fire, responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision.
On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at approximately 6:10 p.m., OPP responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a dump truck on Old Highway 2 in Trenton, Quinte West.
As a result of the collision, the rider, a 25-year-old resident of Belleville, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Old Highway 2, between South Perimeter Road and RCAF Road, was closed for several hours while the OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) team assisted with the investigation. The road has since reopened.

1ST UPDATE – Old Highway 2 was reopened by CFB Trenton shortly before 11 pm.
ORIGINAL STORY – One person is dead following a fatal crash near CFB Trenton.
Shortly after 6 pm, there was a collision between a dump truck and a motorcycle on Old Highway 2 near one of the sets of lights.
The driver of the motorcycle died in the crash. The driver of the truck was not seriously injured.
Old Highway 2 in Trenton was fully closed between South Perimeter Road and RCAF Road for the investigation, and was expected to remain closed until midnight for the investigation.
