Northumberland County OPP stopped a driver for speeding early Wednesday morning in the Township of Hamilton.
Officers spotted a passenger vehicle at 12:20 a.m. on Oak Ridges Drive. The vehicle was travelling 143 km/hr in the posted 80 km/hr zone.
Police stopped the 32-year-old driver from Port Hope, who they claimed was showing signs of being impaired.
The driver, William Howard, is facing the following charges.
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt
- Driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor
- Obstruct plate
- Fail to have insurance card
- Owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
Howard has had his vehicle impounded for 14-days and license suspended for 90-days. He has a September court date in Cobourg.
