House fire in Ameliasburgh on Saturday

There was a house fire over the weekend in Ameliasburgh

At 12:44 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue responded to a reported house fire on Carter Road in Ameliasburgh.

Deputy Fire Chief Tim Kraemer said smoke alarms alerted the home’s occupants. All occupants exited the home safely and there were no firefighter injuries.

Deputy Fire Chief Kraemer praised the excellent work of firefighters who brought the fire under control at 1:36 a.m.

An investigation will be completed to determine the area of fire origin and cause. The incident is not considered suspicious, and fire damage is estimated at $250,000.
