Fire causes heavy damage to home on Montrose Road

A house fire in Sidney Ward in Quinte West caused extensive damage on Monday.

Crews responded to a two-alarm fire at a home on Montrose Road around 4:30 pm.

The road was closed for several hours while Quinte West Firefighters dealt with a very large and stubborn fire.

Damage is estimated at $600,000.

Firefighters were able to enter the home and save a dog who was covered in debris.

No word yet on the cause of the blaze.

Investigators are back on scene this morning.
