Cobourg Police have laid charges in connection with two separate incidents involving drugs over the past week or so.
On July 21, 2026, at approximately 1:50 a.m., police on general patrol in the area of Queen Street and Church
Street in Cobourg observed an individual in possession of a bag containing suspected fentanyl.
As a result of the investigation, a 42-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with Possession of a
Schedule I Substance and failing to comply with a probation order. The accused was released on an undertaking
with a future court date.
In a separate incident on July 27, 2026, at approximately 4:50 p.m., officers conducting traffic enforcement in the area of King Street
East and Brook Road North in Cobourg observed a vehicle without a front licence plate.
Police conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver. During the interaction, officers observed signs of
impairment and cannabis and related paraphernalia in plain view within the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and transported for further testing by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).
A search of the vehicle incident to arrest resulted in the seizure of several licence plates registered to other
vehicles and individuals.
As a result of the investigation, A 20-year-old Roseneath man was charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates, Fail to surrender
permit for motor vehicle, Fail to surrender insurance card, and have care or control of a vehicle with cannabis
readily available.
The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
The vehicle was
impounded for seven days.
