A destructive incident at a Belleville business resulted in one arrest on Monday.
On July 13, 2026, at 7:37 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a business in the city’s west end regarding a report of mischief. An employee reported that a male had thrown a rock through the front window of the business, causing the glass to shatter, and was still on the premises.
Upon arrival, officers observed a shattered window with a large rock located inside the business.
A male suspect was seated near the damaged window and was taken into custody without incident.
While in custody, the male made further statements indicating he intended to continue damaging property, including threats to smash police station windows and threats to officers if released.
A 34-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with:
· Mischief under $5,000
· Fail to comply with a probation order X2
He was held for a bail hearing.
