The annual Blair Smith Memorial Fishing with Kids event is back for its 18th year and will be taking
place on Saturday, July 25,2026. This free event is a wonderful opportunity for local youth to experience the joy of
fishing and create lasting memories with their families.
“My husband was an avid angler who took our son and daughter on countless fishing trips where they made
treasured memories. Offering families a free opportunity to learn about fishing and share in that joy is exactly what
he would have wanted,” says event organizer Tammy Smith.
The first 150 child participants will receive a special loot bag filled with fishing tackle. Families can also enjoy a
prize draw, face painting, a fishing pond, information and resources from the Ontario Federation of Anglers and
Hunters, and complimentary hotdogs and drinks.
Smith adds, “We are grateful for our sponsors – The City of Quinte West, Trenton Downtown Business Improvement
Area, and High Falls Outfitters. This event would not be possible without the additional support and generosity
from local small businesses and community members. Every contribution, regardless of size, plays an important
role in helping us achieve the success of this event annually.”
Organizers say this is the final year for the event.
