Teen charged with child sexual assault in Quinte West

 The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a young person in connection with a child sexual assault investigation.

On Sunday, February 22, 2026, the Quinte West OPP received a report that a child had been sexually assaulted by a youth at a daycare in Trenton.

Following an investigation, a 14-year-old has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:

  • Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age
  • Sexual interference
  • Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age

Investigators have notified the parents and guardians of other children who attend the daycare to ensure they are aware of the investigation.

The accused cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
