A localized power outage is resulting in the closure of a local high school on Wednesday.

Officials with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board say Bayside Secondary School is closed for the day.

The notice is included below. The reason is a localized power outage. They will provide an update on Wednesday about the status of the school for Thursday.

Important notice: Bayside Secondary School will be closed March 4, 2026

Bayside Secondary School will be closed to all students and staff on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

This closure is necessary due to a localized power outage affecting the power and heating system in portions of the building.

To ensure the safety and comfort of our school community, students and staff should not go to school on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Maintenance staff and external contractors are currently working to resolve the electrical and heating issues.

We will monitor the situation closely throughout the day tomorrow. A follow-up communication regarding the status of school for Thursday, March 5 will be shared through email and our social media channels by no later than 6:00 PM tomorrow.

Students may stay connected to learning through Google Classroom or updates provided by their teachers.

We understand that unexpected closures create challenges for families and we appreciate your patience as we work to get the building back into operation.
