Assault arrest made in Bancroft

The Bancroft OPP has charged one person following a complaint of assault.

On Saturday, January 31, a member of the public attended the Bancroft OPP Detachment to report that an assault had occurred the previous day. After further investigation, one person was arrested.

As a result, John Sturges 68, from Hastings Highlands has been charged with assault and two counts of mischief under $5,000.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on March 3, 2026.
