Two people charged following altercation in Belleville

Belleville Police have charged two people following a violent domestic incident in the city on Sunday.

On December 14th, Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s east end regarding a reported assault.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a male and a female had been involved in a verbal altercation.

The altercation reportedly escalated when the female pushed the male into a wall, while the male grabbed the female by the throat.

As a result of investigation:

A 45-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with assault. He was held for a bail hearing.

A 50-year-old Belleville woman was arrested and charged with assault. She was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in February
