Celebration of Life held for Quinte West Councillor Sally Freeman

By Paul Martin Dec 15, 2025 | 5:36 AM

There was a warm and loving tribute at the Trent Port Marina on Sunday as people gathered to remember Quinte West Councillor Sally Freeman.

The long-serving representative from Trenton passed away back in October.

Freeman was honoured for a lifetime of public service, dedication to causes and organizations like Trenton Memorial Hospital and for her tireless efforts to bring unity and greater co-operation.

The moving service included a memorial speech from her son Paul, a moving song from her daughter-in-law Tamara and a slideshow.

The event was well-attended and included Mayor Jim Harrison, the majority of Council, several city Directors, the Fire Chief, and representatives from CFB Trenton.

Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison says Freeman will be missed and will always be remembered as a dedicated member of QW Council.

Immediately after the service, Councillor Zack Card said that “Sally Freeman was deeply dedicated to the Quinte West community. She was a true trailblazer, achieving leadership roles during a time marked by more political barriers and fewer women in public office. Freeman demonstrated her strength and resolve by tackling major challenges, including her work on the Amalgamation Committee to unite four municipalities and her strong advocacy to protect Trenton Memorial Hospital.”
