Driver charged in Belleville after vehicle left in snowbank

Belleville Police have charged a man with impaired driving after a vehicle was left in a snowbank over the weekend.

Sunday morning at 2:07am, Belleville Police received a report that a vehicle was stuck in a snowbank in the city’s east end.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a male who reported that he attended the area to assist after seeing the stuck vehicle.

The witness advised that he observed another male sitting in the driver’s seat exit the vehicle holding a beer can, and that the male walked away from the scene.

Following an investigation, Nickolas Rittwage, a 25-year-old Deseronto man, was charged with

Operation while impaired – alcohol

Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg.

He was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in January.
