PEC holiday changes and closures

The County of Prince Edward facilities and services will be impacted by the holidays.

Administrative Offices:

Wednesday, Dec 24: Administrative offices open 8:30am to 12pm.

Thursday, Dec 25 and Friday, Dec 26: Administrative offices closed. All necessary services will be operating as required.

Monday, Dec 29 – Wednesday, Dec 31: Administrative offices open 8:30am to 5pm.

Thursday, Jan 1: Administrative offices closed. All necessary services will be operating as required.

Friday, Jan 2: Administrative offices open 8:30am to 5pm.

The municipality will continue to deliver essential services every day throughout the holiday season. If you have an urgent inquiry when administrative offices are closed or after-hours, please call: 613.967.8777 for road, water, or sewer emergenices.

Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue is open 24/7 over the holiday season, including statutory holidays. Dial 911 for emergencies and 613.476.2345 for non-emergencies.

Garbage and Recycling Collection:

There will be no garbage and recycling collection on Thursday, Dec 25, Friday, Dec 26, or Thursday, Jan 1. Regular collection will return on Friday, Jan 2.

Garbage and recycling collection will follow a temporary schedule over the holidays.

If your regular collection date is:

Tuesday, Dec 23, your holiday collection date will be Monday, Dec 22.

Wednesday, Dec 24, your holiday collection date will be Tuesday, Dec 23.

Thursday, Dec 25, your holiday collection date will be Wednesday, Dec 24.

Friday, Dec 26, your holiday collection date will be Saturday, Dec 27.

Tuesday, Dec 30, your holiday collection date will be Monday, Dec 29.

Wednesday, Dec 31,  your holiday collection date will be Tuesday, Dec 30.

Thursday, Jan 1, your holiday collection date will be Wednesday, Dec 31.

Garbage bags must be tightly sealed and weigh no more than 40lbs when filled. All bags must have a visible tag.

Landfill and Transfer Stations:

The landfill and transfer stations’ operating hours will run as scheduled Saturday, Dec 20 and Saturday, Dec 27. The Wellington, Sophiasburgh, and Picton waste sites will be closed Wednesday, Dec 24 and open on Wednesday, Dec 31.

Recreation Facilities:

The Prince Edward Community and the Wellington and District Community Centre will remain open over the holidays. Changes to operating hours are as follows:

Wednesday, Dec 24: Both open 7am to 12pm

Thursday, Dec 25: Closed

Friday, Dec 26: Both open 12:30pm to 3:30pm

Thursday, Jan 1: Both open 12:30pm to 3:30pm

The walking track at the WDCC is available from 8am to 8pm during regular operating hours and will follow the above schedule on Dec 24, 25, 26, and Jan 1.

Community ice opportunities, including public skating, will be available over the holidays. Click here to view the full schedule.

County Transit:

County Transit will not operate on Thursday, Dec 25, Friday, Dec 26, or Thursday, Jan 1. County Transit’s scheduled route service will end in Belleville at 5:55pm on Wednesday, Dec 24 and Wednesday, Dec 31.
