Good Company Food Shop opens In Downtown Belleville

Local chef Matt DeMille celebrated the Grand Opening of his cozy carry out, pantry and prepared foods hub Good Company Food Shop on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025 at 211A Front Street in Downtown Belleville.
Mayor Neil Ellis along with Councillors Garnet Thompson, Margaret Seu and Kathryn Brown, Danielle Letersky on behalf of MPP Tyler Allsopp, Jill Raycroft from the Belleville Chamber of Commerce, Brad Roach from the city’s Economic Development, and Danielle Hanoman, Executive Director of the DBIA were present at the ribbon-cutting.

DeMille, known locally as the opening chef of the Drake Devonshire and for his private-chef and catering work, delights in a “simple, best ingredients” approach to preparing his meals.

Good Company Food Shop sells pantry staples from Canadian makers, a fridge full of house-made sauces and salads, a rotating “sandwich of the week” and family style meal kits. Opening his business on Front Street has been a full circle moment for DeMille.

“I grew up here, Belleville is home,” said DeMille. “As a kid, I’d ride downtown with my dad to pick up my grandma after her shift and grab lunch at Cozy.”

“We’re thrilled to officially welcome Matt and Erin DeMille to the Downtown Belleville business community. Good Company Food Shop is a fantastic addition to our Downtown core.” said Danielle Hanoman, Executive Director of the Downtown Belleville BIA.

“I want Matt’s Good Food to feel like your friendly corner spot: grab a stellar sandwich, a bottle of my hot maple sauce, a ready-to-heat dinner and say hi to your neighbours,” DeMille said.
“I don’t want people to skip Belleville,” he adds. “If you’re driving between Toronto, the County, or Montreal stop here. Try something delicious, discover a few more local gems, and see what this city is building together.”

DeMille’s cooking philosophy, shaped by time in top Toronto kitchens, keeps things focused: “If you start with great ingredients, you don’t need to hide them. Good olive oil, good bread, good pancetta, good lemons, keep it simple and make it sing.”
Good Company Food Shop is open Wednesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
