Quinte West Council is moving ahead with a feasibility study to explore the possibility of building a new sports dome in the community.
Councillors discussed the idea during tonight’s Council meeting after receiving a report from the Director of Community Services, Jaclyn Grimmon, outlining the potential benefits of a sports dome to expand local recreation options.
Council members briefly debated whether or not a dome would be suitable for the community, noting that funding for the feasibility study has already been included in the 2026 budget. Some Councillors said Quinte West does not have the space for a sports dome, while others said it would be a vital community asset, protecting athletes and spectators from bad weather conditions.
Following the discussion, Council voted to move forward with the study.
