Docs by the Bay is excited to announce the signing of two physicians to the Family Medicine Recruitment Program – Dr. Adetunji Adewole and Dr. Vikie Bedard.

A signing ceremony occurred on Tuesday at City Hall where both new physicians were in attendance.

Dr. Adewole obtained his medical degree from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria and completed his residency at Health Education Yorkshire and Humber in the United Kingdom.

He joined Quinte West from the United Kingdom in October and will be practicing at the Great Lakes Medical Center in Trenton.

“I chose to come to Quinte West for its welcoming community and the opportunity to practice the full scope of family medicine in a supportive environment,” Adewole said.

“I look forward to building long-term relationships with patients and families, working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, and contributing to the overall health of the community.”

Dr. Bedard received her Bachelor of Honours in Health Sciences summa cum laude in 2012 from University of Ottawa, then pursued a year in podiatry at UQTR in Trois-Rivières before being admitted to medical school at University of Ottawa in 2013.

Dr. Bedard is working at the Belleville Quinte West Community Health Center, Quinte West location.

“I’m moving to the community because this is where I grew up, and returning here truly feels like coming home. My family and I were drawn back by the strong sense of belonging, the familiar faces, and the supportive environment I’ve always cherished,” stated Bedard.

Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison stated the city is pleased to welcome both doctors to the region and added their commitment to delivering primary care will make a meaningful difference for residents across Quinte West.

“We are grateful they have chosen to practice here and look forward to the positive impact they will have on the health and well-being of our community for years to come.”
