Bancroft OPP lay assault and extortion charges

The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person with assault and extortion after an incident earlier this week.

On Tuesday, November 25, 2025, a member of the public attended the Bancroft OPP detachment to report an assault that had occurred the previous day. After further investigation, one person was arrested.

As a result, Jason CHAPESKIE, 34, from L’Amble has been charged with the following:

– Assault

– Extortion

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on January 6, 2026.
