UPDATE – eastbound 401 reopened near Kingston

UPDATE at 9 am – The eastbound 401 was reopened shortly before 9 am.

UPDATE at 8:30 am – The eastbound lanes of the 401 were closed around 8:15 am at the Sydenham Road eastbound on-ramp following that crash earlier the morning. No word yet how long the closure will last.

ORIGINAL STORY AT 8:05 am – A major crash caused a significant slowdown on the eastbound 401 approaching Kingston on Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 8 am, there was an multi-vehicle collision on HWY 401 Eastbound at SYDENHAM RD (IC 613)/Frontenac CR 9.

No word yet on injuries.

The left shoulder and 2 left lanes were closed in that area.

Expect major delays until they are able to clear the scene.
