November is on its way again and that means it’s time for Highland Shores Children’s Aid to join children’s aid societies across Ontario in recognizing Adoption Awareness Month.
This month’s events are meant to raise awareness about the importance of permanency, belonging, and lifelong connections for children and youth.
While every effort is made to support children remaining safely with their families and communities, adoption continues to provide a permanent family when reunification is not possible.
“Every child deserves to know they have someone in their corner for life,” says Suzanne Anquetil, Director of Services at Highland Shores Children’s Aid. “Adoption is about creating lasting connections, a sense of belonging, and the reassurance that no matter what challenges lie ahead, a child will always have a family they can count on.”
This year’s Adoption Awareness Month highlights:
• Belonging matters: Children thrive when they have stable, lifelong relationships.
• Families come in many forms: We welcome adoptive families from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
• Children are waiting: There remains a need for families willing to support older youth, sibling groups, and children with unique needs.
Together, we can help ensure every child and youth has the opportunity to grow up feeling safe, supported, and connected.
