UPDATE: Shop fire on Old Madoc Rd in Belleville is not suspicious

UPDATE on Oct 22 – The investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing but it is not considered suspicious. There is currently no damage estimate. Firefighters cleared the scene and Old Madoc Road was reopened around 4 pm on Tuesday afternoon.

ORIGINAL STORY on Tuesday afternoon – Old Madoc Road between Zion Road and Highway 62 is closed following a shop fire Tuesday.

The blaze broke out just before noon in the 600 block of Old Madoc Rd., two kilometres north of Foxboro-Stirling Rd.

The road was closed by Belleville police to allow for a tanker shuttle assisted by Quinte West fire.

There are no injuries and fire prevention officers are on scene to investigate.

The fire has been brought under control and firefighters are doing overhaul for hotspots.
